A surprisingly bad movie! I read all the "real people" reviews and thought Cedar Rapids would be fun to see. I like raunchy movies as much as anyone, but these people worked overtime to get as many disgusting remarks in as possible. Poor Ed Helms always plays Ed Helms, whether he's a paper salesman from Scranton or an insurance salesman from Iowa. I didn't feel any of the characters were especially likable or the story all that well written.
They say to stay for the credits. Do so only if you enjoy watching a grown man light farts.
This movie is definately not for everyone. Save your money.
Once again, it seems that Matt Damon has chosen wisely.
It's so nice to see a movie with a plot that I haven't seen before. So many movies are just remakes of old ones. This one tells a great story, has excellent acting by Matt and Emily especially, but also the rest of the cast, lots of twists and turns, enough romance to make the women happy and enough action to keep the men happy. It's well worth your time and money.
"Unknown" - Liam Neeson does a great job in this movie keeping the audience on their toes. Lots of twists and turns. The ending was a bit anti-climactic, but all in all the movie was worth the price of admission. Only afterwards, on the way home, do you begin to realize that there were quite a few holes in the plot. Even so, an entertaining movie.
I thought the movie was very honest about what's happening in America today. Companies lay employees off and their stock price goes up. CEO's are making millions while thousands of workers lose everything they have. The script was excellent and all the actors did a wonderful job of portraying all the emotions that go along with losing your job and potentially losing everything.
This movie should be a "must see" for all young middle management people who think they can't be touched by layoffs and downsizing. Excellent movie.
Pretty bad! If you like seeing Adam Sandler be Adam Sandler, you'll like this movie. I know movies are just supposed to be entertainment, but the idea that Jennifer Anniston's character would fall for Adam Sandler's character really stretches the imagination. She and her kids are the only likable characters in the movie. His cousin is so annoying, you want to choke him and I can't believe Nicole Kidman ever agreed to do this movie. She did a good job with a terrible script and so did Jennifer, but this movie is so bad, it's like watching a train wreck. Maybe some day, Adam will grow up and realize that he can make a movie that isn't made up totally of toilet humor and juvenile sexual "comedy" and still be funny.
I wasn't sure I wanted to see it or not, but I'm certainly glad I did. While it was painful to watch the King fight to get his words out, it was a excellent "feel good" movie. The characters were charming and easy to like. The costumes were gorgeous and the scenery spectacular. I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants to be entertained by great story telling.
If Christian Bale doesn't win an Oscar for this movie, it will be a crime. The entire cast was great. The story was well told and riveting. Very intense. The language was pretty bad, but that's the way they talk in that part of the country. Great movie!!
My husband wanted to go. I didn't, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was nice to see that Vince Vaughn and Kevin James can do something besides slap stick comedy. I thought the entire cast did a good job. You can tell they told a good story when you're still talking about what you would do in their situation long after the movie's over. Ron Howard rarely directs a movie that isn't entertaining.
Non-stop action. Characters that were likeable and that you really cared about. I thought it would be a predictable "disaster movie". While parts of it were a little predictable, there were plenty of others that were just plain exciting and fun to watch. You get so caught up in the story, you forget you're watching actors. Well worth your time and money.
I really thought from the previews that this would be a good movie. There were funny moments (but not all that many), and the language was a huge distraction. They could have told the same story and left out 98% of the language. The main characters weren't all that likeable. If it weren't for Justin's friends and Drew's sister and brother-in-law, the whole movie would have been a total waste of time. This is a good one to skip.
