New Moon was a very explained sequel to Twilight. It had many more dramatic and action scenes which made it more interesting. It also had more detail as to why the werewolves and vampires were rivals.
This movie is fun, fast-paced, and beautiful to watch because of where it takes place. The score is good, too. While it is a bit thin and superficial at times, as it develops it commands your attention and emotional involvement. While I won't give anything away, I was surprised by the final plot development. It's reasonably well-balanced, given the controversial nature of its subject--science vs. religion and their now compatible, now conflicted relationship. However, some things just don't add up. For example, a Harvard 'symbologist' who can't read Latin and translate Italian? Give me a break!
The visuals in the film are nicely done. The characters interact with eachother smoothly, and some of the facial expressions are cute. Characters that are meant to provide laughter are obvious. Some have said that this movie is innapropriate for kids due to nudity and violence. As far as violence goes, this is minimal. Think of Harry Potter as a cartoon. And as far as nudity, there's only one scene ands its not very long anyway. Besides, you don't see anything, she's just sparkly. Remember, these are puppets, not real people.
What a mess! First part seemed almost a parody. Attempts by actors at mimicking body language/ways of talking of the real players had the quality of a bad high school play. Whole first part of film boring and irrelevant. By the time the second part gets serious, there's not enough time to make the point. Takes important national issues and turns them into psychobabble. The best part of the movie is the Dylan song during the credits!
