I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. I thought the casting was excellent. I went to see it with 2 friends, and we all enjoyed it.
I liked the touches of intelligent humor and mature cynicism. A lot of the characters were intriguing, especially the wanna-be musician "snake boy" and the villainous "Mr. Tiny". Mr.T was both elegant and genuinely creepy, like Voldemort grew up and gained weight. (And maybe produced the snake boy after getting drunk with Salma Hayek's character.?)
I especially liked the absence of nauseating teen romance goo. Compared to Twilight, this one wins hands down.
