Just like the first (Meet the Parents) it was fun to see Ben Stiller as the misunderstood victim who everyone but those in the audience thinks is a Butt-Head. Then to see him be absolved in the end and have his Father-in-Law eating crow... awesome. Great fun and lots of laughs.
It had the makings of a good movie.. the casting was good, the acting was good, but the story was hollow. I don't regret going to see it... it was entertaining, but it definately isn't one I'd recommend.
I read some of the user reviews and was tempted to wait untl this came out on video, but decided to see it at the theater anyway... I'm glad I did. Knowing a bit about the plot beforehand helped some, but come-on, it wasn't that complex. It was a good date movie. Russell Crowe's charcther willingness to give up everything out of love for his wife had my wife asking If I'd be willing to do the same. May not get an Oscar nomination, but because it was entertaining, I say it's worth 5 stars.
I went to this movie with low expectations. You know, the trailer was sort of dark and the mood was a bit too somber... but my wife really wanted to see, and I'm glad she did. Duvall's character is very mysterious and intriguing.
Most of the good stuff was revealed in the trailers, but it was still good for a laugh or two. The kid was really cute, and Jeff Goldblum knocked it out of the park in his role.
I'd recommend it, but don't go with expectations of laughing through the whole movie.
Okay, it was a little slow in places and the dinner scene was a bit hokey, but it was still entertaining. I really enjoy Steve Carell in this and Paul Rudd played the serious costar very well.
Worth the admission, and if you miss it at the theater, it's a for sure rental.
I was really turned off by the trailer, you know the one with the Rock and Samuel L Jackson strutting around the police station looking all cocky. What a relief to find out the two play extremely small parts in the movie. Mark W and Will F are on screen 98% of the movie. It was a fun movie, light hearted, and well scripted.
As Wayne Dyer says, "we are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience."
This movie supports many of the concepts I've read about in Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Stewart Wylde, and Ester and Jerry Hicks books. In these books we are told that our experience on earth is not reality, but more along the lines of a dream. When we wake from the dream, we are in heaven in our spiritual state, and we incarnate over and over much like the many dreams we have during our sleep.
My wife and I both loved this movie and plan to see it again. Not only was it entertaining, it was thought provoking.
