The timing is perfect, a fitting tribute to the work of Jerome Robbins, choreographer of West Side Story.
The NYC Ballet company recreate the work "NY Export: Opus Jazz" on location in classic New York settings.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I was impressed with how well the intro scenes were true to the book in capturing the childlike relationship blur between fantasy and reality. But the moment the monsters opened their mouths the magic was broken for me. That wasn't in the book.
I agree with earlier comment. I really don't think that the Mr Sendak planned the Monsters to be such depressed and complex characters. That was a real let down.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
