I took my 9 year old nephew. He loved it! I'm not sure that he really understood it, however. At different points in our lives we view the same information differently (experience). The book was, of course, written by an adult. This was one of my favorite childhood books, which I hadn't read since a child. It gave me a great insight into my thought processes as a child, which apparently haven't changed very much as an adult. It was great!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
