Happy to see it, mixed kid reviews

I thought it was plenty cute and funny, and less cheesy than some of Disney's classic princess tales. However, for "my little princess" she would have preferred for her to be in true adult human form for a longer period, and the villan was pretty scary for her as well as when the bug, Ray, died. She laughed about the prince turning back into the servant when his ear & butt grew, and is talking about it still.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Better for older kids

I enjoyed this movie, much more than my 3.5 year old did. The ideas were much heavier than she was able to understand or become interested in, and the monster's tantrums frightened her. However, I would watch the movie again with her in a few years and I think we would both enjoy it.
We went with anoher 3.5 yr old girl, who's reaction was the same as mine.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
