Movie was well scripted & great acting performances. I was touched by the relationship between De & her Mom. I was disappointed that another father was so immersed in dysfunction that he didn't want to deal with the pain and anguish he caused his children and De.
The relationship between De & her Mom was beautiful and enduring which feed into De's strength as a mother to her own daughters that she was willing to sacrifice her whole self to break the cycle of victimization and racism. I felt like pulling a "throw a shoe at the former president" move when the bigoted district attorney was using the false drug charges against De as a bargaining tool.
Took my 'tween to check out this flick. There was a lot of action going on in this movie that was sometimes difficult to follow. I'm a visual person, so the viid colors and the shifting of images on the screen was very cool most of the time. I didn't care too much for how the race cars were being represented on the track...it was sometimes too cartoonish.
