Watch out for the product placement in your life.

Very cool and thought provoking film. Given all the psychological studies and documentaries surrounding mass marketing and human compliance & conforming behaviors--as well as the clearly rampant product placement in tv shows and movies today--I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't really going on right now; almost seems a shame that it might not be going on in communities now. Many should watch and consider: what is the American dream, and should it be pursued? It's hard to deny the draw of materialism.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

A film made for the big screen

I had the opportunity to see this flick online before the movie was even out in the American theatres. It was a decent film on a MAC (and I love my MAC), but so much cooler in the theatre. Unless you feel your home theatre experience adequately replaces the big screen, the surround sound, and the shared human experience of an audience, do yourself a favor and don't even think of waiting for the DVD.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I'm a 37 y/o black American man. I thought I'd see something that I would find new, intriguing, insightful, or just missed by watching this movie. I didn't. "Babies are cute" was about the only message I got from this film. It's weird seeing a primitive (technology wise) African culture--no disrespect meant for them, but I don't know how much I like being perceived as someone whose race belongs in the dirt while other cultures seem to provide more for their kids; that's just probably me though.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Have you ever been at a fast food place, and you find someone--maybe even yourself--complaining that the meat isn't fresh or that the trimmings are missing. But then you realize, "Wait a minute, I must be eating here way too much!" You remember that you are there not to get the best tasting or the most nutritious or the fanciest presented meal, just something cheap and quick to hold you over until you have the time or money to get something better. Then you remember you're at least getting a burger from McDonald's and not 7-Eleven. This movie gives let's you feel like that.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Good actors--yes. Good visuals--check. But such a let down. I want to say so much more, but why bother?

Good yet underdeveloped.

Visually stunning, yet there is something missing in this film. Perhaps it is the darker side of me wanting to see the Queen of Hearts get her execution, or see the Mad Hatter truly go postal on someone, or see the Cheshire Cat be more conniving. Maybe I wished the white queen inspired me more, or that I felt the dog got his day. So well acted, with a few remarkable and quotable script lines, and a movie truly meant for 3D (I saw the 2D version, too--ok, but not as great to experience).
Yes, I recommend this movie.

It is too early for me to have seen this film, but I saw the movie from which this movie is a knock off--"Repoman, A Genetic Opera"--from beginning to end. It was horrid; only the story concept was good. This movie gets 5 stars from me just for even attempting to pay me back with a decent movie after I let myself waste my money and a part of my life on that miserable fiasco. It was cruel of director of "Saw" to have tortured his fans that way.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

An ascetically well envisioned post apocalyptic genre film. It reminds me of most japanese anime--good story concept & plot twists, outstanding action scenes, brilliant artwork, and things to appreciate & disdain in the protagonist and the antagonist. But like with anime, at times I was really bored; the dialogue at times was unoriginal or uninspired; there were lots of gratuitous product placement; & the beautiful, strong, and street smart woman will often (and in weird ways) be just the opposite.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

A very creative and interestingly way to reflect on the status quo of our current human condition. It does the taboo by suggesting to the audience that they are the cause of the problems in the world and that they most likely don't want to change. It also suggests that path to change is hard to find, difficult to do, and that those who do change will find life very difficult. It does, however suggest that those who do change will find themselves to be more alive and powerful than they had ever imagined they could be, despite the multiple challenges they will face. Nice story, generally well acted and well portrayed.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
