I don't get what was so scary?

I was excited to go see this movie with my boyfriend because of all the hype.. Well I was disappointed, not one startling moment and it was very predictable. It seemed more like a comedy than a horror film because of the jokes Micah was making throughout the film. I fell asleep fine afterwards and didn't have any nightmares, and when I went back to my apartment alone, no sounds startled me.
What usually scares me are scary faces popping up out of nowhere so I was expecting some of that, but nothing like that happened, just banging sounds.
It had a good plot and good acting, just not scary at all. Also the ending was BAD and CHEESY! I heard Steven Speilberg re-did the ending but if he did, he did a BAD JOB!
No, I do not recommend this movie.
