3D added to the fun but wasn't necessary

I took my 4 year old for a special mother-daughter day out. We both had a wonderful time. We own the DVDs and are familiar with the movies, but neither of us had ever seen them on the big screen. The 3D effects are well done and do add to the novelty, but the movies are so excellent that that stand well on their own in 2D or 3D. Also, Pixar 3D moves away from you rather than towards you, which makes the 3D a little less noticeable than say a IMAX showing.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
