I'm old enough to remember the original with John Wayne. While this comment will be perceived as old guy heresy, Jeff Bridges outshines The Duke in the role of Rooster Cogburn. Even if you're not a fan of the Western genre, this is still a must-see movie.
The movie has an interesting premise, some mixed theological signals (yeah, I wasn't expecting that out of a comedy) and the actors themselves executed their roles well. But the whole didn't seem to measure up to the sum of its parts (lots of grins but very few belly laughs)
