Anthony Hopkins can go from fatherly old priest to possessed and make it believable. If you don't believe in the Devil or in possession, don't bother, but if that's one of those things that gives you the chills, this is a movie for you. :)
I enjoyed how this didn't follow either of the books all that well. The older Alice allows for different plots to develop that a child Alice just couldn't be a part of- like a possible love story. I thought most of the characters were somewhat believable, and I get that it was supposed to be obviously over the top at points, but the White Queen's mannerisms bugged me. I loved the twists on characters I knew from the original animated version- the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, and the doormouse especially. The Knave of Hearts was an interesting addition also.
