Derby Rules! It'll make you want to throw on a pair of skates and jump into the movie.
Whip It was much like its lead Bliss Cavendar (Page), flawed yet persevering and in turn endearing. For a coming-of-age story, the film pretty much follows the book. What makes the film special are its many talents such as a subdued Kristen Wigg who plays Maggie Mayhem, a single mom Hurl Scout who guides Bliss along her journey. Andrew Wilson steals the show in his scenes as Razor, the often belittled but beloved Hurl Scout Coach.
I could complain that the film lacked a sense of complexity, but it was entertaining as a comedy. Definitely a must see for any teen girl.
