Lion King's opening is still one of the best Disney's ever done. The film holds up very well, although the hyenas still feel like cardboard cutouts. The one part, surprisingly, that just doesn't work is the 3D- particularly in the final showdown. There are moments where the characters seem to just disappear and reappear. If there's a 2D version available near you, I suggest sticking with that.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Beautiful and fascinating, but oh that dialogue

Tron Legacy is immersive, fascinating and a great deal of fun. The dialogue, unfortunately, like the first, needs a bunch of work. Ironically, I thought the first had more memorable one liners to at least bring it along.
Garrett Hedlund is a bit stiff, but not too bad, and Michael Sheen does his typical werewolf/vampire ham act (as opposed to his Blair/Frost serious one), but Jeff Bridges, Olivia Wilde and the others are all quite good. Worth seeing on the big screen, and I did like the IMAX in particular. The 3D just sort of was. My only complaint on the effects was stylistic- how the vehicles moved wasn't as much fun as in the original. Overall though, very good.
My kids loved this movie, even with some of the scarier scenes scattered throughout, and came away very happy and chattering about it. The one catch, is that it really isn't a movie I could watch again easily, due to how much of an emotional roller coaster it is. It's a far more even film than Wall-E and Up, as it doesn't really have any clear weak moments. Overall, worth seeing.
The movie was better than I expected for a film my kids wanted to see. However, the weakness in Chloe's personality change and too many extra little plots (who needed the rat and iguana to keep showing up?) made the last part of the movie a little weak. The kids liked it, but it's not a film we'll be rushing right back to see.
