A visceral experience

The film relies heavily on it's outstanding visual effects and heady technical design and keeps the plot moving so as to distract you from a less than coherent story. Performances are generally good, with Olivia Wilde and Michael Sheen standing out.

It was good, and interesting and visually arresting, but I don't think enough effort was put into the backstory, or the authenticity of many character motivations for it to be a truly great movie. I was told by the characters were doing things, but I didn't believe it. Their beliefs and desires weren't really shown to me.
