These HD productions get better and better. The cast for this Siegfried was not to ber believed. Jay Hunter Morris is not to be believed! The rest of the cast was in superlative form as well, and the production is superb! The set with the special effects was extraordinary. I want to see the 3D projections in the house, since they were staggering in 2D in HD. Because Washington DC is just far enough away from NYC to make going to a performance at The Met not very easy, the HD productions make me feel like being back home again!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Hey! Would have loved to have seen it! Socked out by the blizzard of '09. Hope I can exchange tickets for the encore performance AND GET IN TO SEE IT IN THE SMALL THEATRE WITH ALL THE OTHER FOLKS WHO ARE TRYING TO RE-SCHEDULE. Why can't that Met on-line subscription show HD? I'd subscribe so I could watch HD performances (day of!) on my home TV.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Magnificent Met Perormance with Shoddy HD

Well, the Met performance was superb. The singing and performances were outstanding. Liu was the show-stealer. She is incredible! And to see this production so up-close and personal was amazing. The intermission interviews were a nice touch, too. The HD telecast, however, left a lot to be desired. There were numerous drop-outs throughout the show that really detracted from the whole experience. Understandably video feed like this is problematic, but you'd think they'd have the glitches ironed out by now. Weather conditions, satellite feed, etc. are problems, but why doesn't HD at home act accordingly? The video service needs to get their act together.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
