Saw this movie last night, about 6 weeks after it opened. Theater still packed. Went last weekend but it was sold out. Not sure why after seeing it. Good but not the "great movie" everybody talks about. Clooney is very good and believable in his role. His apprentice (Natalie Keener) is somewhat steroetypical and predictable. Some funny parts interrupted by some pointless drama. Needed to be edited to about 15 minutes shorter than it was. Tried too hard to be a comedy, drama, romantic, have a message movie and came up short on each of those but still good in the sum of their parts. Disappointed that Jason Bateman didn't have any funny lines....lost potential for his character there.
Am a big fan of Mike Judge. Beavis and B^tthead is excellent mindless TV and Office Space is a cult classic. Had high hopes for "Extract" but it was a big, fat turkey. Almost no laughs. Decent concept poorly executed and the script just wasn't funny. Couldn't wait for it to end. No real character development. Unlike "Office Space" no funny lines to say over and over again to your movie buff buddies. Don't even bother when it hits cable!
