As a man who has not read the books I can only describe the film as OK. Some interesting scenes but it mostly felt disjointed as I could not fill in the blanks in the story telling as to the motivate of the main character. Also it was hard to ignore some of the sophomoric film mistakes like the white makeup on faces but not on necks, and unintended makeup transfers after hugs and such that showed up blatantly in CU shots. Also the meadow scene shows flowers strew about in a very plastic way. You think they could have dome better for such a pivotal scene. It seems like everyone on the behind the scenes crew was a bit lax. Overall the vampire elite theme seems very borrowed from Ann Rice.
Neat graphics. But how many times can you show a plane drop off the edge of runway and emerge from a chasm. Then fly through falling buildings. The car driving though falling buildings and jumping gaping holes was fun to laugh at as well. If they had not push the super unbelievable feats envelope so much this film would have been much better. Fun to look at anyhow.
It was slightly entertaining with it's quirks, but it feels like a student film with some poor editing and continuity problems.
There is a scene where she goes upstairs. No explanation of why she is going there and why she puts on a record and why her future boyfriend shows up. I thought I must have dozed off and missed something.
It has it's moments, but it mostly feels like the pseudo alternative hype. "Oh my gosh look it's gurls with tattoos"!!!! And when will Drew learn to stay behind the camera. She just detracts heavily from the quality of any other players skills.
That said it sure it nice to see films where women are independent and athletic. Love that.
What's next from Drew? A movie about girls BMX from the 80's?
