While the visuals were great and the story interesting (if predictable), the movie would benefit a lot from some deeper cuts.
I'm a strong believer that constraints make people a lot more creative, and this feels like another one of those movies where someone was given an inordinate amount of resources and what they produced fell a little short (see also: The Beach vs Slumdog Millionaire, The Fountain vs The Wrestler).
Yes, I recommend this movie.
