I saw this in IMAX-3D with a friend, and we both saw the original TRON in first release in theaters. We both enjoyed Legacy for some serious 80s camp value and for the pretty cool visuals. There were times that we thought the references to other SciFi films like 2001, Star Wars, Fifth Element, and Matrix were a bit overplayed and distracting, but they worked well in places. Overall, it was fun and we didn't feel at all cheated.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Like "The Day After Tomorrow", don't go to this film expecting to encounter anything even vaguely resembling an understanding of basic science, nor in this case about the Mayan astronomical calendar. That's not why most people would go, anyway, but it's a bit disappointing that there's not even a hint of research or reality. Furthermore, everything about the plot is very sadly predictable, and I rolled my eyes quite a few times. Still, it's a great, rolling romp through disaster; the special effects are super fun and I thoroughly enjoyed the film. It's not good... it's just fun.
