Long and Boring

I am a Julia Child fan, but I was disappointed with this movie. Meryl Streep's impersonation of Julia Child is excellent, yet you can watch that for only so long. The plot was a bit ridiculous and I found myself wondering why I should care about Julie who suffers from low self esteem and thinks that replicating Julia's recipes in just one year will somehow make her feel better about herself. Her husband, who is constantly trying to encourage his pitiful wife, seems a bit pitiful himself. I also didn't understand the need for those gratuitous digs at Republicans. What was that all about? And the movie should have been about half an hour shorter.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
