While I've gone to the theater and enjoyed all three Iron Man movies, none of them have blown me away.
Let me be clear, if you're looking for Shakespeare or thought provoking Cinema you will be thoroughly and completely disappointed. And then you should be smacked. This is a MOVIE based on a comic book. Shame on you.
If you want action, wise cracks, and special effects this is your film. While I enjoyed Robert Downey Jr.'s portrayal. I felt like every time we had a chance to see some real depth to this character we were cheated out of it for the sake of a gag or sfx scene.
I also read that some studio execs didn't want anything to do with Stark's alcoholism because of "mommy" groups. Again, I think that's a real opportunity to play on a real issue that plagues real people. A missed connection that could've made this film more compelling (especially considering Downey's own real life demons - which originally made me think he'd be perfect for Stark).
Get some popcorn and find a great seat. Turn off your brain for two hours and enjoy the spectacle because like the other films you're bound to forget what you saw as soon as you leave the theater.
To Joss Whedon, what ARE you going to do with Avengers 2?
Save your money and skip 3D.
Goodluck.
Pros consistent to previous installments, gwyneth paltrow's midsection, popcorn movie
Cons the kid, forgettable
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I have to agree with one other review that I could've saved some $$ on the whole 3D side of things.
Overall, it's an energetic fun ride of a movie BUT my wife and I got a little bored and at times confused. To me, it felt like one or two more script rewrites would've made this a better flick.
They'll probably make a fifth installment (if Mr. Depp chooses to) and we'll probably wait for the DVD or streaming.
Suck it Disney.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Fun Popcorn Movie

It's an action blockbuster that doesn't cheese it up with a bunch of corny one liners and cliche fleeting romances. I wanted to see some digital action and adventure in a story I loved since childhood with some familiar and new characters and I got it. It's fun and over the top, but just sentimental enough to stay with you when the credits roll.
A little violent for the kids but if you tell them it's all make believe I think they can take it.
Oh, the CGI and 3D Imax was great as well.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Not the typical Alice adaptation but a Tim Burton "spin-off". Very entertaining. I understand they needed to promote the movie with a very well known Depp but the whole ensemble is great. It's not just the effects, either. It's a fun and charming popcorn movie.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Toys in 3D!

I haven't seen these movies since they originally came out and even then I saw them on pan and scan video. (I didn't know any better then. Pan and Scan is wrong! You're cheating yourself.) I thoroughly enjoyed myself in watching the double feature. The ten minute intermission was fun, too. Both films were a reminder of why Pixar flew to the top through their story telling and not some flashy gimmicky FX stuff. The 3D animation itself still stood on it's own as well. If you haven't seen it in a theater, treat yourself and some one else and go see it in 3-D.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
