The Met has outdone themselves in this production. The singing was superb, and the staging was excellent. The costumes were fantastic. I also enjoyed the interview with the principals during the intermission. I love going to the Movie Theater to see these operas as I find it very enjoyable and more relaxing than going to the Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center. I can eat popcorn and drink soda while I am watching a magnificent operatic performance
Enjoyed the performance greatly. Liked the way the muse tied all the themes together and made the staging more cohesive. Sets for some scenes were disappointing. Costumes were excellent, though, and enhanced each tale. I do not enjoy the interviews with the performers as they are too staged and very trite. No unusual information is learned as a result of the interviews. I would prefer that the lights in the theatre go on right away and so we would have a longer intermission. However, it is more interesting when the backstage activities are shown and explained.
