I enjoyed it as I would a basic science fiction movie. It wasn't edge of your seat stress or action. It wasn't a movie where you could identify with the characters or even their situation much. The special effects were pretty good. The battle scenes were intense and fun. But overall, it wasn't the best movie I had ever seen. I would see it again and would recommend it. It's just entertainment - not a life changing event.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The movie was full of great special effects and action. The characters were true to the molds of the original cast and you can actually believe they are younger versions of the crew we know so well. I like the references to Trek lore.
I didn't like the one event that changes the whole history of Star Trek. I kept waiting for the time traveling gimic to set things back to normal. If there wasn't so much history to Star Trek, this creative plot would have been fine. But with the Trek universe, we have an expectation for certain events throughout the Trek timeline. All of that is now invalidated and that leaves me with mixed feelings.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
