Perfect Summer Movie

Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz manage to combine send-ups of their past iconic characters with a great action script for two hours of popcorn fun. The action is fast, the comedy is truly funny and the writing is solid. I took two people who really didn't want to go to this movie and both had a grand time, laughing all the way through the film. I'd go again in a heartbeat.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Toy Story 3--Doesn't have to be 3D

Toy Story 3 did what it set out to do, which wasn't easy: wrap things up with Andy and go on to give the toys new lives and adventures. Kids will like the adventures, though adults should be prepared to hand hold little ones through some scary moments and perhaps explain some life and death issues the toys face which are darker and deeper than in the first two movies. Not a negative, but a warning to families that might have faced some life passages recently and are going to the movies as an escape. And adults--you WILL cry in this one. It's a given.
The 3D was fine, but hardly necessary to enjoying the movie.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Hellacious and embarrassing mess

It could be said that this franchise does for feminism what "Song of the South" did for civil rights. It should also point out that sheer numbers of producers can't guarantee that anyone is watching out for the standards of hair, make-up or even wardrobe as they fight for their personal copies of the dailies in their contracts. Jokes that verge on homophobic and gag lines that insult other cultures abound for the lowest common denominator. Too bad.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
