So, saw The Lightning Thief. Lots of good tension and action. Was looking forward to Sea of Monsters. They did a good job, but cut some interesting storyline corners, like how Percy and Tyson meet, the dream link between Percy and Grover, etc.. They also cut some fun corners, like meeting Circe and Percy getting turned into a guinea pig. That was a part my 10 year old was especially looking forward to, but alas, not there. So, it was good, but not great. However, if you're following this series, you gotta' see it. They did a good job with Tyson - he was a little smarter and more normal looking than expected - but he still comes off as sweet and loveable and the tension from Annabeth related to him is good.
Pros good story, good acting, fun action
Cons left out too much, action a little sporadic
Yes, I recommend this movie.

So, often 2nd films in movie series are less than stellar. This one does not fit the stereotype. Despicable Me 2 is just as funny, if not funnier, than the first one. Great family film! Steve Carell is better than ever! Don't miss it! I know I'll be pre-ordering the dvd as soon as possible so we can keep watching it again and again.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors

A lot less mystery and a little too much leading, but still fun for the kid and a lot of laughs. A tad too contrived, but good cohort of actors and fun special effects.
