This movie scores on many levels. Great whole family entertainment. Great moral message to the film: be kind to animals and they will respond, or think about how your actions affect others. A great movie about compassion, about human spirit, and about ingenuity. A great technical composition - visually and musically captivating. It's fun to watch!

WMD can't stand on it's own

Despite many shortcomings in the movie, Matt Damon had an enjoyable performance. Put a good captain on a poor boat, and there is only so much you can do with it. The camera bounced around too much. Lots of fuzzy and dusty lens effects actually detracted from the feel. It was either low budget or bad judgement. Actors scored well, script was weak, directing was sketchy. Too bad Matt, good luck picking your next one.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

This movie delivers on top notch special effects and visual design, and contains a complimentary cast to boot. You won't be disappointed if you like Johnny Depp and if you enjoy a move that delivers eye candy. I enjoyed the fresh perspective on this classic.
