I thought that the director did as best as he could. I'm sure it's been said before, but the movies would have to be so much longer to fit everything in from the books. All the important parts were covered, both the pleasant and not so pleasant, the comical and the serious.
Young children might find all the dark and eerie special effects to be very scary.
One last thing, the difference in vocabulary between America and Great Britain is very obvious and at times might be difficult to follow. But overall, the movie is great. That's all.
