My kids ages 11 and 14 loved it. I thought it was darker and more violent/scary than a PG-13 movie should be, but my kids said it "was a lot less violent than Avatar" (which I haven't yet seen). Daughter said it should win a best movie of the year award. I would wait another week to see it so that you don't have to sit in the front of the theater.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
