After all the hype, I was so underwhelmed by the movie I could cry. Maybe I just need to see it again, walk into the theatre with no expectations. I thought Kristen and Rob did a better acting job this time around but it was still so lackluster it's hard to get excited about it. The ONLY part that I thought was consistently great was Jacob. I think Taylor Lautner hit it every scene he had....except the Tent scene which wasn't his fault because the script was so poor. I reread the book just yesterday before going to the movies and their tent scene was just flat to me. It didn't have as much intensity as it should have. I will go back to see it again. I hope we don't have to wait 6 months for the DVD to come out.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Okay, I've seen it twice, because I just could not stop thinking about the themes in this movie. I'm still finding new threads that amaze me. First, it's slow going. Stick it out because when it starts to roll, you won't be able to keep up with all the psychological twistings. It's dark, real and true to life with all its warts. Bad things happen to good people and sometimes they keep happening. (SPOILER ALERT) The ending event is needlessly being hammered by some reviewers. Face facts folks, the people that died in WTC had lives, loves, prior good and bad happenings in their lives. This movie does not dwell on the incident itself. It merely recognizes good people with baggage had their lives cut short by being at the wrong place at the wrong time. And it's been nearly 9 years. And just like the characters left behind to pick up the pieces of their lives and move on with courage, its time we did too.
Sorry, but I can't agree with those reviews praising this movie to high heaven. The screenplay was so flat. So much of it was NOT true to the book, even little things that, while small, really irked me. Was it to save money on special effects? And the scene that isn't even IN the book...it has no significance in the story. Why was it there? For some action because even the director recognized the screenplay just there was putting people to sleep? I cannot fault the acting, with such a brillant cast, they certainly worked it hard. The sense of disappointment I felt after waiting for 1 1/2 years was overwhelming. See the movie, by all means HP fans. But don't get your hopes too high.
