Why do they make the changes they do

I was so excited to see this one as it was my favorite of the books. I was very disappointed with the adding of scenes never in the book and the unclarification of new people in this movie. There were so many little things that could have been done and weren't. I am surprised that JK Rowling allows some of these changes. My husband, not reading any of the books, thought this was a 4.5 out of 5. I would like to say that this director I do not believe captures the true gift of these books (he has directed both 5 and 6 now) and he is directing the last 2 (book 7 being made into 2 movies). I wish they would bring back Chris columbus who did the first one. That one was amazing and quite true to the book.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
