I haven't read the books, but I've watched all the movies. I thought some of the events were crucial to the storyline and I enjoyed the movie up until the point I realized it was ending. I thought it was the funniest one yet, but I was upset the ending wasn't more dramatic.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
