Batman is everything one could hope for from a comic book story. The story remains true to the comic and doesn't fall into the typical Hollywood mold of trying to please the average viewer. Nolan takes Batman to the darkest depths and it is exactly where he needs to be.
Partnered with a spectacular performance by Heath Ledger the film is the ultimate in good versus evil. This Joker is one of the best villains in film history, thanks to Nolan's writing and Ledger's portrayal. There is nothing better than a brutal psychopath who can make you laugh.
This film should be the biggest hit of the year and challenge all sorts of records. The only difference is this time around the film actually deserves all of the money it is going to make.
