It feels as if the Pixar-style animated movies are starting to get a bit old at this point. Either that or I've attended a few too many kid-friendly films lately and I just long to see real actors telling real stories. In any case, the voicings are good, the story draws you in, but it looks as if even the 12-and-under crowd is starting to see through the animation tricks. The appearance of Rudy, the movie's dino-villain, so fearsome that even a T-Rex stays out of its way, does not shock or scare, even in 3-D. A few toddlers cried, but they shouldn't have been there in the first place. Overall: Story-good, voices, good, concept-wearing thin. At least the length leaves time for dinner and the ride home...
