Hep Aliens

District 9 is a thinking man's Aliens vs. Humans movie. Setting the movie in South Africa and showing the corrupt government's response to the "Prawns" added an extra dimention to the film. The visual effects are stunning and so realistic you almost forget you're watching a movie. Although I did find the lead human character's resemblance to Adolph Hitler to be creepy at times.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I enjyed this movie a lot. I'm a big Zahn fan and his acting in this movie was really top-notch. The big twist ending did take me by surprise. I know director David Twohy doesn't have the greatest track record but he was a good choice for this material. See it with someone who likes to be shocked.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

In Defense of HBP

Some people have been complaing about HBP not being true to the book. Just like with Lord of the Rings we should understand that it is impossible for filmmakers to cover everything in the book in their movie version. I enjoyed this sixth HP episode as much as the previous ones. It sets us up for Deathly Hallows pts 1 and 2, which I think will be the best of the series.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Bruno Not Quite Borat

Sasha Baron Cohen's latest character comedy, Bruno, follows the formula of his previous film, Borat. As Bruno travels the world in search of fame and love he encounters people from many differing lifestyles and orientations. While often hilarious the film suffers from the hit-and-miss quality of its predessesor. Cohen would be better off making movies with all actors in the cast instead of just himself as he has done in other movies such as Sweeny Todd and Ricky Bobby. Still in all Bruno is a funny and entertaining film for the open minded viewer.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
