This was a beautifully crafted film from a technical standpoint, but failed to evoke ANY emotional reaction. The score in particular failed to highlight the dramatic scenes and left me cold.
The acting, while solid, was directed too cautiously. The characters were serious, stoic, and a bit flat instead of connecting with the audience. There's a fine line between acting and overacting, but the characters stayed too firmly inside the bounds.
The lack of screen time for the supporting characters also really hurt them - we love Ron and Hermoine and Harry ... but they're not the only ones we want to see!
There were lots of good points, too, but this movie flunked on the fundamentals.
