As a Philip Seymour Hoffman fanatic, my expectations were unfairly raised as this movie left me wanting more. The intellectual performance you're used to from Hoffman just isn't carried through in this anti-climactic, predictable film that should be positioned more as a British comedy, not to the extent of Monty Python, but more like Animal House at sea. Trust me though, this is no cult classic to be.
A fun one-time watch for a light chuckle and an easy evening makes this a strong #2 choice for any night at home with DVD.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
