Haunting and Exciting Period Piece

Depp and Cotilliard have excellent chemistry but the script's a bit thin. Director Mann did a tremendous job of pulling together a top notch cast (Crudup, Bale, Giovanni Ribisi and Stephen Lang to name a few) and crew to tell the final year of the Dillinger story. Don't expect a lot of background and too much character development. Do expect great action, gorgeous costumes, authentic sets and a fantastic score. It's a good solid gangster movie with a tragic love story at the core, a pleasant surprise. Not perfect but definitely memorable and enjoyable.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
