While several scenes from the book were left out and some new scenes were added, I feel that, overall, the movie stayed very true to the book. It was an enjoyable film. The Harry Potter story is growing up and getting darker as the characters age which is why I feel the movie is more appropriate for teens than for children 8 and above. I wouldn't call this a kid's movie.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
