What a spectacular performance! I was so impressed with Elina Garanca's Carmen, and I thoroughly enjoyed Roberto Alagna's Don Jose. Both performers were much more engaging and emotional than performers I've seen in previous productions. I also commend Teddy Tahu Rhodes for performing Escamillo on 3-hours notice!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Excellent, excellent, excellent! I laughed, I clapped -- I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Each singer performed with such gusto that I am convinced they all had a wonderful time on stage. The singing knocked my socks off!
I would love to see this performance again. Is there a chance it will be released as a DVD?
One drawback: The sound was so loud that listening was uncomfortable for me. I ended up stuffing tissue in my ears, and I still heard everything just fine. And, yes, a short intermission would have been nice.
