Great 80s movie about the silly relationship issues that seem lame today, but were very much in play back then. Loved to hear the music I can't stand any more in this context and thought the actors did a rad job of keeping it real. Oh, yeah, and the babes are hot too.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Great guy film about what guys like, and what they do, when they're free to express themselves. Great music, great acting and a terrific story make this the must-see comedy.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Blah, blah, blah, starring Julia & Clive

First off, let me just say that Tom Wilkinson/Paul Giamatti are awesome in this film! However, I found every word out of Julia Roberts and Clive Owen's mouths to be pointless and irritating. Caution: this movie is full of flashbacks! It takes you back 5 years, 2 years, 10 days, 18 months--aaaaaaaaaaaaah! Flashbacks work...sometimes, but not in this film. Once the foolish secrets of the film are revealed, you can't hope but think that the "Oceans" films were better caper movies and that you'll forget this one before you get the taste of buttery popcorn out of your mouth.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Like Contact...

The story of the skeptic dumbfounded by miracles isn't new. "Knowing" treats this topic similarly to "Contact," but without the religious fanaticism. This movie takes about 30 minutes to become gripping and then goes overboard, throwing at you everything from massive scenes of looting to star children. See it knowing that you're in for a similar story to "Contact" that isn't much better. Special note: this movie was directed by Alex Proyas, the director of "Dark City." "Dark City" was a sleeper sci-fi hit during the early 1990s that no sci-fi fan should miss. See "Knowing" in the theaters because the special effects are worth watching on the big screen, but rent "Dark City" and enjoy a true classic.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Yet another save-the-world-from-the-evil-supercomputer movie that plays like a bad TV episode.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Noisy Garbage...

This is one of those all-to-familiar movies that take you through nearly 2-hours of story telling before presenting you with a mediocre twist that's supposed to bring everything into focus. It fails in almost every respect. Skip it.

Nightmare flick for a man...

Women show their true colors in this film about blowing your wad on the dream wedding. Hudson plays the wealthy lawyer that makes good money; Hathaway is the struggling school teacher. But, they compete with each other financially for the dream wedding at The Plaza Hotel in NYC. Hathaway's character says at one point that she has been "saving for a decade" to do this. Unfortunately, that's nowhere near enough to cover it. As a single guy, I can honestly say that the wedding ceremony continues to be the biggest turn-off about a marriage. This movie did tap into the importance of friendship, but not well.

Action-packed WW II film

"Defiance" plays like a well crafted action-packed war film. The two leading characters (Craig & Schrieber) make terrific competitors against each other and their common enemy. The fact that this movie is based on a true story makes it all the more exciting to watch, but see it for the gripping battle scenes, the power-struggles that unfold between the the Jewish soldiers, and for the character development that's pursued throughout.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Smith and Dawson have great on-screen chemistry in this difficult-to-figure-out thriller of the soul. I found myself saying WTF several times until all is revealed in the end. This is the kind of movie that intrigues you the first time, then you avoid spending any more time on it in the future.

Mickey Rourke captures this role and plays it to perfection. This is a profound movie about a one-trick pony who fails at every aspect of his life except wrestling. You will be mesmerized and leave highly satisfied. This is likely the best performance of the year by any actor.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
