2-Dimensional Portrayal

There are some truly great actors in this movie going out of their way to create a 2 dimensional portrait of Amelia Earhart as a woman who just wanted to fly. There are hints in it that she was a free spirit with a progressive attitude that's unfortunately never fully developed. There's also a feeble attempt in one scene to show that her husband fixed some of the races that she was in. That may be true, but, again, it's a topic that's thrown in and then not developed. I enjoyed this movie and recommend it to anyone who's interested in the topic, just don't expect a masterpiece.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Great Wild Kid's Fantasy

This ends up being a tender story about an angry kid who gets a fantastical retreat with a group of wild creatures who are as scary as they are lovable. Love and tenderness win over in the end and this kid's tale delivers some profound moments of joy and revelation. If at all possible, see it on IMAX because there are some special effects and sound sequences that will justify the extra cash. Good for all ages, but may scare the very young.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Great New York Stories

This movie presents you with seamlessly intermingled slices of New York life. There are artists, high-priced hookers, cheats, thieves, immigrants, dancers, actors, teenagers, fakes and liars meeting each other, falling in love, and being miserable together. These stories are all very well laced and nicely presented. You'll enjoy several of them, if not all, and leave totally satisfied with the experience. I did.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Serial Killer wants a family life

This movie is the better for having solid actors like Dylan Walsh and Sela Ward carry the scenes. However, the writing is choppy and most of the dialog sounds more like a rough draft than a finished product. The one thing that stuck out for me was the lack of gory blood-splatter scenes. That is, ost of the murders don't involve much blood relative to what we've been seeing in this types of movies lately.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Justice Gets Served Justice

If you think our justice system is corrupt and in desperate need of a bloody wake-up call, this movie will appeal to you. Butler plays the man who has lost everything now serving up a serious dose of revenge to all those who let his family's killers off easy. Jaime, ironically, is most to blame, but he's spared so he can witness the damage that cutting deals with murderers brings. Fun stuff, though a bit over the top and ridiculous at times. If you can just sit back and enjoy the carnage, you'll love it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Girls just wanna have fun...

Ellen Page continues to prove that she can pull off any part in this movie about a 17-year old beauty contest scene girl who would rather get dirty with a some roller skates and knee pads. The other actresses in this movie play their parts well and the story flows nicely. My only qualm about this film is that it's just plain fun and not much more. There's no depth to the characters or their struggle here, just teen growth and girls being girls. In the end, it was enough to satisfy me, but not in an inspirational way.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Outstanding love story...

It's difficult to tell where this story of a young, innocent love affair will take you until it shocks you with the brutal truth. The young girl's innocence is unquestionable throughout the film, and it truly feels like genuine love for her perspective. However, the guy provides her with an education that she'll never forget. In fact, his immorality proves to be beyond belief and you're not likely to figure out the length of his deception (not to mention previous crimes) until they're told to you. This is a well crafted movie that most will enjoy.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Scary @#$% Movie!

This is one scary movie! A young San Diego couple set out to document (yes, it plays like a documentary) their haunting, including turning on a camera in their bedroom while they try to sleep. Increasingly weird things begin to happen and the scaring begins to get progressively more intense night after night. You'll never be bored trying to guess what's next in this movie--and the ending is freakishly good. You'll definitely enjoy this movie if you liked "Blair Witch Project" or "Quarantined."

Not funny enough...

Sure, there are some very funny moments in "Couples Retreat." For example, you'll see Vince Vaughn do his usual rambling thing and be funny at it. You'll also enjoy Faizon Love be great at playing the funny-because-he's-fat-and-lovable guy. What you won't get is a tight enough story that ties all this stuff together. Don't be surprised if you find yourself anxious for it to get from one joke to the next.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Great Soccer Movie!

Excellent sports film (based on a true story) about a great coach with an angry style and a massive ego. This movie is about working together and about how going at it alone is often a bad idea. The leading actor, Michael Sheen, is hilarious and scary-good in this role.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
