Corny Matrix

This movie would have you believe that a higher power has a set plan for how you're supposed to live your life. Please, please, don't get off the plan or a bunch of intense individuals dressed like a bunch of ad executives from the show Mad Men begin to take interest in your life and tell you to course-correct. Yeah, it's somewhat entertaining and, truth be told, I could look at Emily Blunt all day long. However, the movie isn't great and is sort of corny.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Study of good and evil

This is a movie that captures the degree to which human kindness can break all cultural and religious barriers. A group of French Christian monks live in harmony with their Islamic neighbors. They provide medical care and share in their chores and toil on a daily basis. However, wartime looms and the fundamentalists disturb the harmony and bring utter evil into the picture. I recommend this film as a captivating human study of good and evil. It also succeeds in the difficult task of breaking down stereotypes about Islam.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Awesome film making and Storytelling!

This movie will restore your faith in film making as one of the most powerful mediums for storytelling. The story is simple: a film crew from Mexico travels to Bolivia to shoot a documentary about Columbus during the time when Bolivians rioted the streets to protest the privatization of the country's water supply. It highlights the exploitation of the indigenous people of Bolivia during the present, while documenting the heinous crimes of the past. Have things really changed since Columbus? Why are we so blind to the present when history has taught us so much? This movie should have been nominated for Best Foreign film, but, alas, it only made the short list of top-9 contenders. You'll be glad you paid to see this film--it's truly a revelation.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Outstanding and original movie about two groups of aliens, one good, one bad. John, the main character, is a teen from another planet who knows he's being hunted by a group of aliens who want to kill him. He is somehow connected to 8 others who can only be killed in sequence, 1, 2, 3, etc. After the third one dies, he and his protector, played well by Timothy Olyphant, move to Paradise, Ohio, which is, as you likely guessed, anything but. The more involved John becomes with the local teenagers, the more he puts himself, and his new friends, in danger.
The second half of the film is full of rip-roaring action with aliens and their weapons, not to mention two unbelievably hot women, one a powerful alien babe (#6) and the other a local girl played by Dianna Agron of Glee. This movie will surprise you and you'll be glad you went to see it. It's also playing in IMAX in certain locations and it's worth paying the extra mula because the special effects are terrific.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This movie uses a plot similar to that of the one used in The Bourne Identity as a vehicle for Liam Neeson to shine doing what he does best--kick butt! It's a lot of fun to watch the plot unfold. My only qualm is that there wasn't more action. That said, it was worth seeing and highly entertaining. It also has some amazing actors delivering plenty of punch to the story.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Hilarious idiotic characters unite

There's a terrific cast in this movie about salesmen who take their jobs way too seriously. One of them has morals until he witnesses the underbelly of the business and cuts loose. Funny all-around movie about simple, idiotic characters who unite and have a great time exploring the true nature of the industry they've devoted their lives to.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Funny, romantic, and good acting

Portman plays the role usually associated with the male pig to a tee: just sex and good times on-demand without attachment. Unfortunately, she and Kutcher's character fall for each other and spoil the party. Wow, what great fun to watch unfold. Special mention for Lake Bell who provides constant laughs as the sexy and supportive coworker of Kutcher's character. This is a great comedy and a great date flick--enjoy!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Long and gripping anti-communism story

It was refreshing to see a movie portraying the great lengths people went through to get away from the oppression of communism. In this case, they walked 4000-miles from Siberia to India to reach freedom. This movie is full of personal struggle and fantastic landscapes. The acting is top notch and I think a mature audience will enjoy it.

Slow and painful

This movie is as slow in developing as the Great Recession has been in recovering. The story involves the lay offs at a large transportation company that has a depressed stock valuation. The movie focuses on the slow and painful process the characters go through when they realize those six figure salaries and golfing lifestyle is a thing of the past.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Tiring comedy

Yes, this is a comedy. However, it touches on some very serious topics and keeps them serious instead of making them light and funny. It is also, at times, drawn out and tiresome to watch. The one thing you can count on is Vince Vaughn's funny rants; they're not fresh and new, but rather the same type of off-the-wall tangents that have become his trademark. I can't recommend this movie because it it tries too hard to be a drama when it should have focused more on being a comedy.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
