This is the way a Batman Trilogy ought to have ended. With Batman getting old, and not ageless like in the comics and on tv, and one last hurrah to save the city he loves. But it takes Selina to get him to live again after the loss of Rachel. Bruce needs someone to live for, she provides the right mixture of antagonism to break him out of a deep seeded depression. Arthur sets him free by telling him the truth about Rachel choosing Harvey. The League of Shadows returns to finish their goal to crush Gotham. Bruce loses everything. He must learn one more important lesson to escape another hole in the ground: to fear death. Only then can he save Gotham and save himself. Just a beautiful story all around. Can't say enough about it, each part of the trilogy was individually outstanding for different reasons.
Pros great story

My wife and I are what you would call 'Harry Potter enthusiasts'. We have all of the audiobooks, listen to them constantly, we actually met on a Harry Potter forum for WB when the original two movies came out, she is from England and I am from America. We know our Harry Potter, and can recite entire parts of chapters straight from the books.
I must say that I really liked this movie in particular, not because it stayed rigidly in line with the book, but rather because the director and producer boldly made some changes that made sense (with JK Rowlings permission, of course). I don't want to give away any spoilers, but almost all of the changes made sense. In fact, I can't really think of any particular one that detracted from the book/movie. For instance, (one spoiler) Harry's decision to detroy the wand at the end made a lot more sense than placing it back with Albus Dumbledore, as it allowed for true closure, as no one would seek to hunt him down to take the wand from him. This is perhaps something that JK had not considered in her haste to complete the book the first time around.
Overall, the amount of content that was packed into 2.5 hours will delight any Harry Potter fan, and some of the later scenes, including those by Alan Rickman really brought some of the finer points to life.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
