The animation is so lifelike and flawless, you have no problem immersing yourself in it's alien world. I am in the VFX business and even after watching it four times I can't find a single moment I would call "fake".
As for the naysayers pointing out the unoriginal story: yes, it has been done before, but not like this. The characters are so well developed that you feel for them in a way that only James Cameron can accomplish. Just sit and let the movie take you away and you will have an amazing experience.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
