The only funny parts have already been shown in the trailer. Not worth the money, my 6 year old got a couple of laughs, but he had not seen the trailer. PG for a reason. I'm not a fan of Bean either, so you may like it if that is your comedy realm.
This was a fun movie to enjoy when looking for a light hearted comedy. No drama or singing (sorry, Mamma Mia), just lots of smiles. My friends say it is most similiar in nature to Bridesmaids. I did not care much for Bridesmaids, but really enjoyed this movie. I did have to come home and make a list. Yikes...25 is my number.
We were engrossed in the movie from the beginning. Great story line, action and drama. We would give it a 9 out of 10. Only thing we would have changed was the ending (but not a huge part of the movie) and switched the main male characters in current day. You will see what we mean, but go and see this. Beats anything else out there.
My son could not wait for the Aroma-Scope. We had high hopes like something at a Disney park where the smell fills the theatre. Really, a scratch and sniff card that does not work? This was popular in 1970. More people are disgruntled with the Aroma, than if you had simply made another 3D movie. The 3D was average. That said, the movie was actually pretty good with a message to live for today, and enjoy your family and all your blessing. My entire family enjoyed the movie and message. More stars if we had not paid $4 per person more for 3D/Aroma-Scope.
I'm in my mid-40s and have never seen one of the Planet movies, nor did I want to. I grabbed the remote when one was on, thought it was a bad premise, and I do not like movies about animals. When my husband told me The Help was sold out, but he was able to get us tickets for this, I was disappointed. I only went so he could see it and we did not waste the money. How wrong I was. A little slow at first, and I was ready to walk out at the treatment in the facility. I'm so glad I didn't. The whole story came together and it was very enjoyable. I'm almost thinking about renting some of the other Planet movies, but they would have to live up to the high expectations of this one. Give it a try...there is a good story for everyone in it.
My husband and I loved The Hangover, were disappointed with both Bridesmaids and The Hangover II. We really wanted to see another movie but it was sold out. Our choices were either Horrible Bosses or The Zookeeper. Not being into flicks about animals, we chose Horrible Bosses. It was a great choice. Some reviewers have said there was little laughter, yet gave the move 4 stars. We were in a crowded theatre where you had to be 21 to get in, and the laugher was grand. Most folks said it was one of the better adult comedies written. We truly enjoyed it, and had many chuckles and several belly laughes. It is not Oscar material, but if that is what people are looking for, it was their mistake to select this movie to begin with. This is a great, inappropriate comedy, along the lines of The Hangover and American Pie. Geared for the over 30 crowd that have jobs. Loved it!!!
Really good movie, our active 6 year old sat through the entire movie and loved it. My only complaint is how adoption was shown. He is adopted from China, and talking about the panda finding his "real" dad was a blow to us. I would never have taken him if I know the adoption story in advance. If this is not an issue, the children will love it.
Reading some of the reviews where the adults were a little bored with the slow movie....people, this is a kids movie, and an excellent one at that. The characters come to life and my 6 year old son (who is scared at many movies, and bored at others) totally got the movie and loved it. He even asked when we can buy it so he can watch it at home. It was a movie for boys and girls, with good kid humor and lots of action. We enjoyed it also, because of what a great kids movie it is. If we want adult humor, we will watch "The Hangover" after our little guy goes to sleep.
Go with an open mind and don't expect something like Toy Story. It is a funny movie about Yogi Bear..my 5 year old loved it, and we enjoyed it. It will not win the academy award, but it was a delightful family flick.
It is often hard to find a movie that my husband and I will both enjoy, but this was it. We both loved it. There were several scenes that could have a minute or two chopped from them, but overall it was a great movie, with great acting, special effects and period settings.
