Very Good, not Excellent

Only a few problems with Nine...
1) If you're expecting Chicago, you will be disappointed. Nine in any form (stage, film) isn't as good as Chicago. It's just an inferior work.
2) There probably isn't one showstopper like the Cell Block Tango, but it still provides some very exciting musical numbers (the top four being A Call from the Vatican, Be Italian, Cinema Italiano and Take It All).
3) Kate Hudson's character seems a bit extraneous, but she does get to sing Cinema Italiano, which is catchy. Otherwise she could have been cut and more time given to Marion Cotillard who steals the show.
Overall, it was very good. 4/5 or 8/10. Good movie, not EXCELLENT like Chicago.
