WARNING: This movie is PG. Young children (children under age 8) may need to stay at home for this one, or be accompanied by an understanding parent. My 6-year-old enjoyed the movie, but found parts of it quite intense.
This is by far the most violent, suspenseful, and heart-warming film Pixar has put out to date. Even “Wall-E” and “Bolt” are by comparison more light-hearted than “Up.” At least two characters bleed, a first (I believe) for Pixar.
The movie probes a variety of issues related to growth and life choices, but also portrays (amid its fantastical elements) the realities that accompany those life choices. Humor runs throughout, with an element of play that makes the movie enjoyable for both children and adults.
