Solid Film

A beautifully shot, well-acted film. I don't think it quite lives up to the hype reviewers have been giving it, but it is a very strong entry into the gay film category. Reminiscent of Before Sunrise/Before Sunset, the entire film is almost conversation, though as the title suggests, this is a weekend of two people meeting.
The real reason to see this is for Tom Cullen and Chris New. Both are exceptional.
Seek this one out!

Challenging Cinema

This film is not for everyone. It is worth seeing for Ellen Barkin's fearless performance, but do not go in expecting a linear movie.
Gorgeously shot, and sporting some interesting sound design this is a film for film students. It is a bit pretentious in my mind, but it had a sense of humor which these films never do so I support that. I am glad I saw it, but I am not sure I want to see it again.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Fascinating Subject, Thrilling documentary

This is a case of the subject of the documentary being actually better than film itself. There are some amateurish techniques being used in this film (each seem is made up of multiple takes, it seems no one can even finish a sentence without being in another take). However, all of this just adds to the intrigue of the film.
The characters themselves are even more fascinating than the central mystery. Overall though this film could gain a cult following. Excellent, thrilling stuff, even though I wish the filmmakers were a little more polished.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Challenging and interesting

After seeing the Future and her previous film, I have come to believe that Miranda July is a better actress than writer/director.
This is a challenging film. It takes the audiences to bizarre places, and doesn't always reward them for taking them there.
I can respect her vision and audacity to create something completely original, but at times it feels she was just trying too hard.
However, Hamish Linklater and July are worth the price of admission alone. I would have paid to watch this sit on a couch for 90 minutes with their computers. In essence that's what I really wish the film had been about.
In the end I wasn't sorry I saw it, but I would only recommend it to a limited set.

Fascinating subject matter

A great summary of the debates and issues surrounding the amusement land in Coney Island. The film provides a good overview of what happens and does exactly what it should do, captures the sadness over the loss of Astroland.
The film is a bit long at an hour and forty minutes but is beautifully shot and the interviews shown are mostly pretty on the spot.
Keep an eye on this film, because it is a treat to see on the big screen.

A competently made movie..that said

I completely hated every minute of it. There was such an emotional distance to every character that there was no way to care about anyone onscreen. Everyone talks of forgiveness and reconciliation, but not a single character seems capable of doing that.
Lovely performances by everyone, especially Allison Janney and Ally Sheedy, but what for? This type of film is exactly what gives indie films a bad name. Quirky characters abound, but quirkyness for the sake of being quirky means nothing.
The film isn't very long at just over an hour and a half, but feels it. Storyline meander and everyone speaks with such an ironic detachment that no one is really sympathetic.
I can't recommend any part of this film, except the cinematography, soundtrack and performances none of which really make this film worth the effort. An extreme disappointment considering the talent involved..

A truly Gratifying experience.

Really quite amazing. Saw this at the IFC Center, the road show edition, which totaled five hours and thirty-six minutes with two intermissions. I know that sounds like a lot of time to spend at a theater, but trust me it was well worth it!
Bye themselves, the three films have many weaknesses, but taken together, they create quite a rich and rewarding film experience. I loved the dark atmosphere of the first which was shot on 16mm and comes across as quite gritty and dark. The second is perhaps the strongest, directed by Man on Wire's James Marsh, with the third maybe being the least focused of the three. That said the revelations that come in the third film could perhaps be argued to be the most rewarding.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
